So a friend of mine was telling me about IRIS read which supposedly is Japanese OCR-capable, so it got me thinking and I figured I could ask here if any one knows/has any good Japanese OCR; I have used Paperport's (what would later become Omnipage) but only for English, never for Japanese Kanji/Hirigana/Furigana.
Thoughts?
Actually, if you have Office and the Japanese spellchecking package, you can use the office document imaging program (basically omnipage) to do Japanese OCR as well. Unfortunately current Office 2007's version has a bug that causes a program crash.
Yes, I am a bluntly honest type. Thanks for the info Asmodai, I'll go ahead and try it ^^
Question; do you know if it works with image files such as bmp, jpg, gif, etc or only with txt/doc files?
Actually, it scans to TIFF and such formats. Only during the recognition phase will it output Word or RTF or whatever you want and is supported.
