i would really love it if you could save a lists of words you're learning on denshi jisho.
i would look up a word, then save that word for quick reference later on. perhaps the word would automatically be sorted into lists according to its type, such as verb, noun, na adj, i adj etc. you could then come back and review the words at a later time, i would auto link the word (or at least provide a link to) the kanji stroke order. Perhaps at a later stage you could export your list into readthekanji or something (when they develop that feature).
hmmm, i've discovered a few things that I can't do and have pretty much given up on finding a vocab list management tool thing that is good enough for me to keep using. I think i'm gonna have to make my own. Basically i want jisho with the added ability to then click a result and get that data into my own vocab list. I want to be able to view the list in different ways, sort it, print it, edit it, tag it and what have you. I think that would be sweet.
I know it sounds like drudgery, but once you get accustomed to entering things into a SRS (which you'll want to use if you're serious about learning the language) you'll find it goes pretty fast and is a good way to kick off the learning process. As far as I know, Anki can do everything you've described plus more and it's the easiest-to-use SRS software I've seen that's also free.
Another vote for anki. I use it about an hour a day and think its great. Manually entering the cards will he a chore at first but it`ll get easier, and as nate says, its a good way to kick off the learning process. Now whenever I encounter a new word I automatically archive it into anki and it feels like I`ve `captured` a new word. My list is at 7,800 cards now (15,600 if you count both sides) and I hope to make it to 10,000 soon.
Well i have sort of made a tool in the last few days, that is kinda what i wanted. It's called tangochan, at http://www.toosharn.com/j/ if you want to check it out. I might make an export to anki option in the future.
It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
