JLPT
  • asmodaiasmodai December 2008

For those of you that do not know, in 2010 the JLPT will consist of 5 levels instead of the current 4. The additional level will be inserted in between what is now known as level 3 and 2.

  • TobberothTobberoth December 2008

Indeed. At the same time, the level of JLPT1 will be slighty raised.

The implication being that, unless your skill level isn't a problem one way or another, you might consider either take the test this year or wait until 2011 when the test format is made public and there are study materials available for it. :)

Is it true that there will be two exams every year worldwide, as opposed to one in December as it is now?

  • asmodaiasmodai January 2009

    Taken from http://www.jees.or.jp/jlpt/pdf/20080525_jlpt_kaitei_report_pre01_0718.pdf :

    従来の12月実施に加えて、2009年の7月に現行試験の1・2級のみの試験を実施します。実施地は、要望の強かった日本国内および中国などの海外の一部地域としたいと考えています。

So only for JLPT levels 1 and 2 we will see two tests a year, at least in 2009. One in July and one in December.

    Hi,
I am staying in Japan till june and I want to take up JLPT Level 2 this year.
I guess I will not be able to take the exam in Japan.

However, if it is twice a year, can I fill up the form here and take up the exam in my home country?

Please comment if you know anything abotu this.

    Regards

You have to apply in your home country, there is no place on the forms to specify where you would like to take the test.

    Thanks ! :).
I'll have to see what I can do.
