Offline Jisho
  • I know that it is possible to download the JMdict.gz file, but it is impractical. Does anyone know if there is a way to get an offline version of jisho.org? Not just the database, but the real thing (with examples, common words option, etc)!
  • Yes, you can hack their servers and copy all content onto your hard drive. Let me know how it works out.
  • Hasn't anyone tried to make a ghetto application with edict or JMdict (the .gz files)?
    - see where it says "Software for using the EDICT files"
I have not used any of those but probably one will have the functionality you want.

I did, at some point last year. It was modeled on this site and was going to have Anki integration and such. I lost interest and stopped developing it. :3
