Hello,
a new application has just been launched on the iphone called shinkanji (http://shinkanji.bcerrina.com).
What is special about this application is that not only does it shows the kanji stroke order but it will enable you to navigate through the kanji structure to similar kanjis.
For instance: Start with 語 (go, language) then go to 言 (i in iu, to say) and you will see all the kanji containing 言. This works for any kanji subelement and not just radicals.
Because I have found this both interesting and usefull to memorize the character, I have written shinkanji and put those functionality in first before any of the more popular dictionary/quiz/...
Please try it, you can install it using:
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=288546107&mt=8
I will also make a free "lite" version which will not enable you to start your navigation with any kanji but just with a limited list.
Benwulf
(author of shinkanji)
PS:
in the site you will see videos of how the program works, even if you don't try it any comments and feedbacks are welcome
It looks nice. However, could you put up the free version on an installer.app-repository? Many users, including myself, don't fancy iTunes (mainly because it doesn't exist for Linux and it's lousy anyway), so the free alternative Installer.app enables everyone to download and install software whether it's been approved of Apple or not. As it should be.
Maybe one day but don't hold your breath, I have enough in my hand evolving the version which is in the app store and I think my time is better spent there than installing another tool chain and building such a free version.
Sorry but even if you don't use itunes you can still use the on device app store
